Bateman Group invest in Volvo EC55CBateman Groundworks keep faith in Volvo compact excavators

Great Yarmouth based Bateman Groundworks Ltd has purchased three Volvo EC55C compact excavators as part of an investment programme as the company increases its project portfolio through 2011 and 2012.

The three new EC55Cs have been supplied to Bateman Groundworks by Contractors Equipment Sales Ltd (CES).

“These are the third generation of Volvo’s five and a half tonne minis we’ve operated,” commented Managing Director, Richard Bateman. “In our opinion the EC55 is in a class of its own in terms of robustness, quality and operator acceptance so choosing the latest C models as part of our ongoing investment was an easy decision to make,” he continued. “In addition we’ve enjoyed a long standing relationship with Andy Smith and Claire Cozens at CES who have supported us well over the past twelve or so years.”

Primarily contracting to large national house builders throughout East Anglia, the mini-excavators are well adapted for working on sites where space is a premium but yet good reach and all round performance are required.

Established in 1997, Bateman Groundworks Ltd provides groundworks and civil engineering services, and offers a complete package of labour, plant and materials, delivered by qualified and experienced engineers and site operatives. Covering the whole of East Anglia, the company has gained an enviable reputation specializing in major contracts across the private housing sector and within the public sector including police stations, schools and colleges. Specific services include; bulk earthworks; road and sewer construction; foundations; drainage; utilities and hard and soft landscaping.

Civil Engineering positive as it buys 18 JCB excavatorsCivil Engineering positive as it buys 18 JCB excavators

Bedfordshire-based ECL Civil Engineering Limited (ECL) has purchased 18 JCB tracked excavators as the firm invests heavily to capitalise on the upturn it sees within the construction industry.

The company has already taken delivery of three JCB 8065, six JS130, one JZ140, one JS145 and two JS220 models with a further two 8065 and three JS130 machines on order.

Due to its size and lean structure, ECL is surviving the recession and has reacted quickly to improvements in market conditions, which it is experiencing. The company has now been commissioned to carry out road construction, sewerage installation and ground works at a series of high profile new-build housing projects. These include Barratt Homes, Merchant Taylor Place development in Croxley Green, North East London where many of the new JCB excavators have been in action.

ECL director Steve Tysoe said: “The total package on offer from our equipment suppliers is as important as the machines themselves. With JCB you get the lot – finance options, excellent service and ongoing support throughout the life cycle of the excavator – all to a level that its competitors cannot match.
