UK Demonstrates Ability to Innovate The past two weeks has been a festival of sport as athletes from around the world competed in the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Many of the athletes taking place commented on the excellence of the running track and inside field. And once again, as with the London 2012 Olympics, the UK construction industry showed not only its ability to innovate but to also deliver projects on time and within budget. To those who did not know otherwise, it was the perfect athletics’ stadium. However, the’ Hampden roar’ that greeted the participants is usually more associated with football. Hampden Park has been the football stadium for Scotland since the iconic stadium was built over 100 years ago. The running track and inside field was all a temporary structure designed in such a way as to create a lasting legacy. Although a temporary structure, it can be used virtually anywhere as it is a flexible, modular concept. This was the first time that this technology was used and it was a success. And the installation was put to the test. In the opening days, Glasgow enjoyed some of the highest temperatures of the year. This was to be followed by torrential rain fall. Fortunately, the games went ahead without any problems. What Do You Think? Contractors World asks readers to comment on the latest internet service that could change the very way used equipment is bought and sold. See the article on Proxibid and let me have your thoughts.
