New online service could change forever
the way used construction plant and
equipment is sold.

Once man began using tools, auctions soon became the accepted way to sell commodities. And over the centuries, little has changed in the process, except that auction houses developed into niche sectors.

The construction industry has several key players holding live auctions of used construction plant and equipment. And, although they have evolved to embrace the technology age whereby bidding can now be done over the internet, it is still basically a man with a gavel, shouting out the bids. The sale is confirmed when the gavel drops.

There are specialist auctioneers for fine arts, property, motor vehicles and many other niche sectors.

There will be few people not familiar with online services such as eBay where individuals can sell items and services at a fixed cost or sell them to the highest bidder.

The key to the success of such services is simplicity and a strong resolution service to help resolve disputes that may arise such as non-delivery, goods not as described, etc.

Although high price items are sold through eBay and other online auction services, generally they do not offer the security that long established auction houses can.
