Bell loader puts in appearance at WC Watts Aggregates supplier, W Clifford Watts, has purchased a wheeled loader from Bell Equipment for the first time, citing fuel efficiency as its key consideration. The Yorkshire-based firm has traditionally run loaders from three other leading manufacturers, but decided to see whether the Bell loaders actually lived up to their growing reputation. Richard Watts, director at WC Watts, explained that the Bell L1806E was just one of the machines that was put through an “extensive demo” conducted by an independent assessor in the presence of the manufacturers’ representatives over a number of days. “What we found was that the Bell exceeds other machines that we’ve tried in terms of productivity,” said Watts. “Productivity is key, and when we worked out what the fuel saving was with the Bell, we should end up paying much less during the life of the machine than we would otherwise have paid.” The new Bell loader, part of a fleet of 15 loaders and around 60 other trucks and excavators operated by WC Watts, is now working in the firm’s sand and gravel sites as well as being available for hire. Watts said that he had been particularly impressed by the service he had received from Bell before, during and after the purchase. “It’s a seamless service,” he said. “It’s how you would expect the top tier of machinery supplier to be – yet that doesn’t always follow with all manufacturers. The L1806E purchased by WC Watts is a mid-sized wheeled loader within Bell’s six-strong range. Nick Learoyd, sales and marketing manager for Bell Equipment UK, said: “WC Watts is yet another in a long line of established and highly regarded companies to have recently put their trust in a Bell loader for the first time. “It’s extremely difficult to break into companies where there’s been a long-term relationship built up with another manufacturer, so this latest sale is hugely rewarding.
