or the past few years, the Case wheel
loader range has comprised of 6 models
in the ‘2-Series’. Originally made in
Germany at a facility in Berlin, the company
decided to consolidate production of its
wheeled excavators at its Italian facilities a few
years ago.
The wheel excavators are now made at
the Case facility in San Mauro and developed
by engineering in San Mauro and Berlin.
Presumably to keep as close as possible to one
of the largest markets for wheeled excavators.
Rumours have been c i rcu l at i ng for
some time about a new series and Case
has announced the first three models in an
improved range of wheeled excavators.
New Generation. New Name
With the introduction of latest technology
engines and advances in computer and
hydraulic technology, it is to be expected
that the new models represent a significant
upgrade on the existing series.

designation. The existing models are the
2-
Series, whereas the new models are named
the ‘8-Series’. This renaming is designed to
re-establish a connection with the heritage of
the CASE 88 series (from the beginning of the
90
s up to 2002) produced in Crepy, France.
The first models in the new generation
comprise three models - the WX148, WX168
and WX188. These benefit from the power
and performance of a three-pump hydraulic
system, with a dedicated swing pump, a new
engine speed/working mode selection dial, a
heavy-duty undercarriage and an improved
operator’s cab.
