Bristol Waste Company to Meet
Zero to Landfill Target
A fleet of Doosan excavators and wheel loaders, including a brand new Doosan DX140LC 14 tonne crawler excavator, is
helping McCarthy Waste Management Limited to meet an ambitious two-year ‘Zero to Landfill’ target at the company’s
Material Recycling Facility (MRF) in the St Philips area of Bristol in South West England. The Doosan equipment was
purchased from local Authorised Doosan dealer, Kellands (Plant Sales) Ltd of Bridgwater in Somerset.
Formed in 2001, McCarthy Waste Management Limited was created to fill a gap in the local market for removal of
both domestic and commercial waste and the company delivers and collects hundreds of skips of different sizes every
day throughout the South West. Over the last 11 years, the company has grown rapidly, taking on extra personnel and
increasing its fleet of lorries and skips almost on a weekly basis to satisfy demand.
Kevin McCarthy, Managing Director of McCarthy Waste Management Limited, said: “Following good reports about
Doosan products at rental companies and some of the other waste management
companies in the area, we began purchasing Doosan excavators and wheel
loaders from Kellands in 2006. With the new machine, we are on our third
DX140LC excavator from Kellands and our second Doosan DL200 wheel loader.
These products work in conjunction with a relatively new Doosan DX80R
compact excavator working on the waste pile. The machines have performed
excellently throughout and I’ve always had great feedback from my operators.
We’ve also had the best back-up possible from our Doosan sales representative,
Mark Payne and the service operation at Kellands.”
The new Doosan DX140LC excavator is equipped with a HGR13 Handling
Grapple, part of the range from Montabert for which Kellands is also the
