Out & About

Jewson Tool Hire has purchased 40 new JCB VMT160-80 tandem vibratory rollers. Jewson on a roll with world’s largest JCB Vibromax fleet

Jewson Tool Hire has purchased 40 new JCB VMT160-80 tandem vibratory rollers. They join 80 existing models to create the largest fleet of JCB Vibromax compaction equipment in the world.

Jewson Tool Hire now offers 120 of the rollers for rental.

It takes the total number of JCB machines owned to over 500 following several huge orders for JCB mini and micro excavators since the partnership was established in 2007.

All of the machines are available to trade and domestic customers from its 250 nationwide branches.

Jewson Tool Hire Director, Richard Pedersen said: “We are extremely proud to have built up the largest fleet of JCB Vibromax rollers in the world and it is a clear reflection of both our rapid growth as a business and the popularity of the models themselves.

“Our customers recognise the brand and love the fact they can now get rollers at Jewson – often hiring them alongside a JCB excavator and Thwaites dumper as a complete package for surfacing jobs. For a relatively new machine to our fleet we are extremely happy and impressed with the performance and utilisation figures.

“There were a number of reasons we chose JCB including: reliability, a proven track record, competitive pricing and a strong after sales service from our dealer Gunn JCB with whom we have an excellent relationship.”

Powered by a 17 kW (23 HP) three-cylinder water-cooled engine, the VMT160-80 tandem vibratory rollers feature a 45 litre diesel tank, which is almost twice the size of competitive models enabling the machines to work continuously for longer. Tool and plant hire customers are getting a whole day’s extra usage out of the new machine ranges compared to other makes – making them the most productive models in this high volume sector.

Tracked Access Ltd (tracked cranes & access specialists) recently supplied a Maeda MC405 mini crane and lift plan for the installation of a memorial to Flt.Lt.Jon Egging (Red Arrows pilot) Memorial to Red Arrow’s Pilot

Tracked Access Ltd (tracked cranes & access specialists) recently supplied a Maeda MC405 mini crane and lift plan for the installation of a memorial to Flt.Lt.Jon Egging (Red Arrows pilot) who died when his aircraft crashed last year after the Bournemouth Air Show.

The company offered to supply the crane, operator and lift plan free of charge to support this fitting memorial and to support the Jon Egging Trust which has been set up in his name by his wife Dr. Dawn Egging. The Trust creates partnerships and develops opportunities for young people who are under-achieving in the formal education system.

The 1-tonne stainless steel memorial comprises of three soaring Red Arrow planes crafted from glass and each plane has a five metre long stainless steel mount, featuring red, white and blue glass beads and sweeping smoke effect finish.

The design is based on original ideas from local schoolchildren and developed, with their input, by the artist Tim Ward and Dawn Egging. It is to be seen at Bournemouth’s East Overcliff

A Maeda MC405 crane was selected by Tracked Access as the ideal crane or the job because of its smooth, precise controls. It has a maximum lift capacity of 4 tonnes and lift radius of 16.0 m which allowed the crane to lift the memorial from the delivery vehicle and into position on the cliff top. The compact dimensions allowed the lift to be completed with minimal disruption to vehicle or pedestrian traffic.
