Out & About

MBS Tracked Access provided a Teupen Leo 30T spiderlift to get the 21 year old sopranoAccess platform helps opera star hit high notes during Queen’s jubilee

Rising classical artist, Laura Wright, took to the skies on an access platform to perform for the Queen during a recent Diamond Jubilee event in London’s Richmond Park.

Rising classical artist, Laura WrightMBS Tracked Access provided a Teupen Leo 30T spiderlift to get the 21 year old soprano (left) into perfect position to sing at the open air celebration attended by Her Majesty The Queen and HRH Princess Alexandra.

The performance was part of Wild London, a free community event celebrating London’s woodlands, parks and gardens organised by Richmond Council and The Royal Parks.

Nearby Capel Manor College which took part in the event suggested MBS Tracked Access to the Council in solving the unusual staging challenge. The Essex-based hirer recently exhibited and demonstrated its innovative tracked spider lifts at the College’s tree surgery and countryside skills show, ‘A Celebration of Trees’.

Due to the machine’s 15.7 m outreach, MBS were able to position the chassis in a discreet position, away from the main crowd, then telescope Miss Wright safely across to take centre-stage to sing ‘Stronger as One’, an official Diamond Jubilee anthem.

Winners from Lighthouse Club Competition at Hillhead 2012Winners from Lighthouse Club Competition at Hillhead 2012

The Lighthouse Club benefited by over £1,100 donated by visitors to Hillhead thanks mainly to the time donated by members of the local team shaking buckets and generally prodding people to empty their pockets.

Through Contractors World, people could also enter the competition on line and were also encouraged to make a donation at the same time.

All involved would like to acknowledge the support and scale models donated for the competition. The Lighthouse Club is a very relevant charity for the industry and everyone in the industry should support the work it does in helping those facing financial hardship as a result of injury or death on site.
