Out and About - Site Equipment
Three new Teupen spider lifts for MBS Tracked Access Essex-based MBS Tracked Access has taken delivery of three ‘new generation’ Teupen Leo Spiderlifts from platform distributor, Ranger Equipment. The tracked platform hire specialist has purchased two ‘facelift’ Leo 23GT tracked spiders (23 m w/h) and a ‘facelift’ Leo18GT (17.9 m w/h) to update and expand its fleet of Teupen machines. The deal with Chesterfield-based Ranger, Teupen’s exclusive distributor in the UK and Ireland, included the trade-in of MBS’s current 23 m Leos. The new Leo18GT will fill a gap between MBS’s 23 m machines and 14.9 m w/h Leo15GT. MBS Tracked Access, which was established in 2006, now runs five Leos – the largest being a Leo30T (30 m w/h). The machines are mainly hired ‘with operator’ for shopping centres and facilities maintenance work. They are also used by parent company, MBS Grounds Maintenance Ltd, for tree surgery and building maintenance. Managing director, Martyn Bass, said: “We have replaced our 23 m Leos every two years to keep up with Teupen innovation. It means the machines remain within warranty and we are offering customers the cutting edge in tracked platform performance and user simplicity.” In trading up to the latest Leo23GT models, MBS has taken advantage of the new option of Teupen’s innovative hydraulic track height adjustment. “It’s much simpler and quicker,” said Mr Bass. “The system is straightforward to demonstrate to hire customers and for them to use. We have noticed the difference it makes to our contract maintenance work, as well. The ease of adjusting track height to drive along kerbs and sloping ground is a big advantage in manoeuvring around site for arborist work, gutter cleaning, roof slate repairs, and so on.” Mr Bass continued “Teupen have addressed small issues such as improving the boom support and outrigger stowing position for transit. They are minor changes that give that extra edge and added convenience which you appreciate as an established platform hirer and user.” Click here for more information: |

First Volvo mini for H Dunstan & Sons General contracting and plant hirers H Dunstan & Sons of Falmouth, Cornwall has broken with tradition and purchased their very first Volvo EC27C compact excavator from Volvo’s utility dealer for the south west of England – Plant & Engineering Services Ltd. Purchasing a new Volvo machine has been a new departure for proprietor Brian Dunstan and a well considered investment in his opinion. “I’ve been impressed with the overall quality on offer from Volvo for some time and decided to put them to the test when it was time to replace one of my older mini excavators,” he said. “And so far, along with my operators, I’m more than pleased with the outcome.” Joining a mixed fleet of equipment including mini excavators,, 20 tonne excavators and backhoe loaders the relatively new EC27C replaces the previous EC25 and EC30 models. Powered by a Volvo 1.6 litre low emission Tier III the machine delivers the performance in the range of the previous Volvo EC30 – yet with a compact design reminiscent of the smaller EC25. >>>> continued
