They can add extra runways, but for any who frequently uses the airport, they will see, by comparison, that it is well past its sell by date. You can upgrade existing structures to a limit but no matter how much work is done, they will never meet the modern day benefits - as Terminal 5 has illustrated. London Mayor, Boris Johnson is rapidly gaining support for his push for development in the Thames Estuary and with other leading proponents in major developments getting involved, the idea is now being taken more seriously.
Lord Foster, chairman and founder of Foster + Partners, has launched a fresh proposal for the Thames Hub – an integrated vision for the UK. Impression of the proposed airport and its ability to provide 24 hours opening with little or nor imppact on commuities. CONSTRUCTION NEWS - ECONOMIC OUTLOOK There is much discussion about the dire state of the construction industry, announcements from the Government on what is going to be done to stimulate the industry but little mention by the powers that be of many of these schemes being put on hold for further consultations.

Painting of the Forth Bridge completed The iconic structure is now scaffold-free for the first time in over a decade as repair and repainting programme draws to a close. Challenging project in rapid river crossing for pipeline firm Six JCB excavators were involved in a complex and time sensitive application – laying 140 metres of pipe-line under a Lancashire riverbed. Cumbria-based drainage and pipeline specialist, Waitings had just 24 hours to lay the pipeline during low tide on the River Lune in Lancaster. Major Thames Water Tunnel Work is underway on the Lee tunnel - a critical part of the Thames Water tunnel project, a scheme to virtually eliminate the need to allow untreated sewage to overflow into the River Thames. Many parts of the project are still in the planning stages but some works are in progress at a site called the Lea Tunnel
