Doosan Double - a pair of ADTs

Doosan Infracore Constructon Equipment has introduced two new artculated dump trucks (ADTs) to further enhance the growing product range and the company’s ability to be a single supplier.

The 30 t. DA30 (18 m³) and the 40 t DA40 (24.4 m³) are both designed around latest engineering developments and advances in engine, transmission, hydraulics and electronic technology.

The company says that the new family of ADTs ofer increased engine power and torque, higher payloads, lower fuel consumpton, enhanced operator comfort and faster travel speeds.

It is worth noting that Doosan has not elected to produce its own key components but to use the expertise of specialist components producers. Hence, the ADTs feature Scania, ZF, NAF, Parker and Rexroth brought together by Doosan engineers to optmise capabilites in extreme of-road performance.

The extremely fexible and agile undercarriage, which is designed to ensure that all 6 wheels are in permanent contact with the ground, means that Doosan trucks can operate on very rough and sof terrain on constructon sites such as road projects and mass excavaton hauling as well as in mining and quarrying applicatons. The system is also highly efcient once the truck starts to run on maintained haul roads.

The DA40 is powered by the 6-cylinder Scania DC13 Stage IIIB compliant diesel engine with a gross power output of 368 kW.

The DA30 uses a 5-cylinder Scania DC9 Stage IIIB compliant diesel engine with a gross power output of 276 kW (375 HP).

Both engines use SCR technology for lower fuel consumpton and deliver considerably more gross torque (up by as much as 30%) and fuel saving of up to 10%

The increased engine power is combined with SCR technology to lower fuel consumpton. Also contributng to the overall reducton in fuel consumpton is the new ZF transmission ofering 8 forward and 4 reverse speeds.

Doosan claim that the DA40 combines ‘best-in-class’ fuel consumpton with a higher top speed of 58 km/h (36 mph). The increased body capacity of 24.4 m³, and the higher payload represents an increase of more than 15% over the payload of the MT41.

Design with a difference

The articulation hinge is positioned behind the turning ring to provide equal weight distribution even during maximum turning and ensures full contact between the tyres and the road surface.

The sloping rear frame enhances the stability of the truck, thanks to its low centre of gravity and allows fast and easy tpping, even in the most demanding conditons.
