Looking after the operator

Caterpillar set new standards years ago with the Cat Comfort Seat but that does not stop them making further refinements. More space has been created by use of electronic controls and integrated digital display units which enable the operator to sit in a more comfortable positon. New cab seals and a new roof-lining material to lower in-cab sound levels add to the level of comfort. The LCD monitor is larger and simpler to use - a positve move to encourage operators to fully use the setngs available. For most operators, the simpler the beter.

Three new minis finally arrive

Originally shown at Samoter 2011 as prototypes, the 300.9D, 301.4C and the 302.7 CR with operating weights of 935 kg, 1515 kg and 2670 kg are now available. All three models are manufactured under the special agreement with Wacker-Neuson. The 300.9D, at just 935 kg, is the smallest machine in the Cat range. Just 730 mm, it is capable of driving through a standard doorway, providing easy access to the most confned job sites. This model is powered by a water-cooled three-cylinder Yanmar 31NV70 diesel engine producing 13.7 kW. The extending undercarriage and fold-out dozer blade increase stability enabling a digging depth of 1,731 mm and a maximum excavaton radius of 3,074 mm.

Caterpillar’s work tool division will be introducing a new H25 compact breaker specifcally to work with this smaller machine. Auxiliary hydraulic lines with quick disconnect ftngs are supplied as standard.

With an operatng weight of 1,325-1,515 kg, depending on specifcaton, the Cat 301.4C fts into the line-up below the current 301.8C, extending choice in the popular 1.5 ton market. The machine is available with a choice of cab or FOPS/ TOPS canopy, and with standard or extending width undercarriage. Power comes from a 17.9 kW Yanmar 3TNV76 engine and the machine boasts a maximum bucket breakout force 16.0 kN and a stck force of 7 kN. Maximum digging depth of 2,240 mm and reach at ground level is 3,640 mm.

Weighing 2,577 kg with a canopy or 2,670 kg with full cab, the 302.7D CR is the lightest Cat compact radius model, making it easy to transport for a rental company or contractor. Powered by the same 17.9 kW engine as the 301.4C, the machine has a load sensing hydraulic system, providing a maximum bucket force of 22.5 kN and a maximum stck force of 21.76 kN.

More excavators from New H

New Holland adds two models to the ones launched expanding the C Series to four models ranging from 21 to ton E215C and 25 ton E245C carry on the productivity features of the series.

The company say that the new models deliver 10% mo as a result of the additonal 15 hp power from the late optimising the hydraulic system to the engine perform Holland say that a saving of up to 10% in fuel is possible. Both models use Selectve Catalytc Control (SCR) techn which optimises the combustion process for maxim efficiency, allowing the 6-cylinder common rail engine focus entrely on generatng power. This soluton, develo by FPT Industrial to meet EU Stage 3B emissions regulat relies on an afer-treatment system that breaks down th into nitrogen and water through a chemical reacton with Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), while Particulate Matter minimised by the high combuston temperatures. The new model feature the EVO cab for good all round size right side window and a rear view camera fted as sta
