Delivery by barge to UK’s largest nuclear site

The completion of the UK’s largest current nuclear project, Evaporator D, has moved a stage nearer with the successful completion of the first of the module delivery stages required for this impressive project.

 The first two of the planned eleven massive modules required for the facility were successfully transported via Self Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMT) 1.5 kilometres from the Interserve Pioneer Point facility, Cheshire to the specialist barge the Terra Marique, moored at Manchester ship canal.

A 58 tonne linkspan had to be carefully barge-craned into place at Gosport Ferry, the busiest short-route ferry service in England, during an 85 minute lifting operation.
