"The beginning of the year is almost an impossible time for editors because there is trade show after trade show, each with something new to offer but also a great deal of duplication. There are so many, that it leaves little time to visit sites, research market activities and, of course, consider and report on the new plant and equipment. There are some new products in this issue but I am preparing a more comprehensive report on what was new and of interest at Samoter, (Italy), ConExpo (USA) and SMOPYC (Spain) . It will be coming your way soon.. . . . register now to be one of the early birds to get it. London 2012 Olympic Games The main stadium has now been handed over. It seems like only yesterday that we were looking at the industrial waste land that was to be developed. (You can see some of the early works in our archive editions. (see here) There are still some works progressing on associated venues and we will continue to report on these and other major projects when we are able to access the sites. During the past month, I have been told by 4 contractors that it is not possible to visit sites because of contract agreements with the clients restricting reporting. If you are a contractor perhaps you can offer some explanation? Read the article on the desperate state of the construction industry and ask yourself “Why aren’t contractors allowed to talk about the excellent work they are doing?” No SED this year but plan for Plantworx in 2013 Contractors World is fully behind the CEA in their planning for the PLANTWORX exhibition in 2013 at the very convenient Stoneleigh Park. We will work closely with the organisers to encourage both exhibitors and visitors to this event. The industry has already seen the demise of many respected printed magazines, SED was another victim.
